Virat Kohli is a name of a chubby and spunky teenager who get fame after leading the country (India) to glory in the under-19 world cup which was held in kuala lumpur.

Chikoo (Nickname of Kohli) was born on 5 November 1988 (age 34 years as in 2024) in Delhi India. His height is approximately 5′ 9″ (175 cm). Kohli’s weight is around 72 Kg (159 lbs). His eye colour is dark brown and hair color is black. Kohli’s body measurement is 40-30-14 inches. 

Family and Wife

Kohli was born into a Punjabi family. His father Prem Kohli was a criminal lawyer and mother Saroj Kohli is a housewife.

Unfortunately lost his father when Virat Kohli’s age is only 18 years. His father died on 18 December 2006, due to a stroke after being bedridden for a month. 

His father supported his cricket training. Therefore, he normally said in his interviews that “My father was my biggest support”.

He has an elder brother named Vikas Kohli. His elder sister’s name is Bhavna Kohli. According to his family, Kohli would pick up a cricket bat at the age of 3 and asked his father to bowl.

Virat Kohli started dating  Anushka Sharma, a Diva of the Bollywood Industry in 2013. After that, the couple earned the nickname “Virushka”. Their relationship attracted the attention of their fans as well as the media. Finally, Virushka married on 11 December 2017 in Florence, Italy.

Education

Virat spent most of his childhood in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, India. He has completed his schooling from Vishal Bharti Public School. Joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy when Virat Kohli’s age was only 9 years in 1998. His father took him to the cricket academy.

Whereas his neighbors said that he shouldn’t waste his time in gully cricket. Instead of cricket, he should join a professional club.

But he knew his way. As a result he trained under Rajkumar Sharma at the academy.

Virat Kohli Career

Kohli first played for Delhi in the 2002-03 Under-15 team for Polly Umrigar Trophy. He scored 172 runs at a batting average of 34.40. He became the captain of the team in 2003-2004. 

In 2006, he was selected in the India Under-19 squad. At the end of the tour, Former Indian Player Lalchand Rajput (Under-19 coach) was impressed with Kohli.

Moreover, he appreciated him for his strong technical skills. In the Under-19 team toured Pakistan, Kohli averaged 59 in the test series against Pakistan. 

Virat Kohli was spotted into the spotlight in December. On that time he decided to play against Karnataka on the next day of his father’s death. In addition, he scored 90 against Karnataka. The death of his father changed him as a  more mature person according to his mother. 

At the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Kohli captained the victorious Indian team in 2008 held in Malaysia.

In August 2008, he was selected in the Indian ODI squad for Sri Lanka as well as the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

 At the age of 19, Kohli made his international debut in the first ODI. He scored 54 i.e. first ODI half-century which helped India to win the series.

Kohli was picked after the Champions Trophy that was postponed to 2009 as a  replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, who was injured. 

Career Turning Point

According to Kohli, the four-team Emerging Players Tournament in July–August 2009 in Australia is the turning point of his career.

Kohli has played as a reserve batsman in the seven-match home ODI series against Australia. And even played in two cricket matches as an injury replacement.

 In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar rested for the tri-nation ODI tournament in Bangladesh. Which gave him a chance to play in each of India’s five matches.

He made 91 to help secure a win, in the second match he ended unbeaten on 71. 

The next day, Kohli scored his second ODI century. Also got the position as the third Indian batsman to score two ODI centuries before their twenty-second birthday.

Finally, Virat Kohli got praise for his performances during the series by Indian captain Dhoni.
